Muscle Percussion

Introducing Muscle Percussion

Theragun is percussion therapy or massage reinvented. Dr. Jason created percussion treatment to increase blood flow and decrease deep muscle tension, using a scientifically calibrated combination of speed and depth to treat comfortably by shunting pain signals sent to the brain. Theragun percussion therapy works because each device offers a unique combination of these three criteria:

  • Amplitude (depth) : the 16 mm amplitude enables our Theragun devices to treat the muscle deeply to release tension.
  • Frequency (speed): with 2400 percussions per minute (40 per second), speed enables our devices to shunt the pain signals transmitted to your brain, making the treatment experience more comfortable than manual muscle therapy.
  • Torque (without stall force): our devices can withstand an additional 20 kg of applied pressure, without stalling, so we can treat the areas that need it most effectively.

What’s the difference with vibration therapy?

The main difference between percussion treatment and vibration therapy is that percussion treatment reaches deeper into the muscle-60% deeper, in fact. Although vibration therapy is sufficient for the surface of the body, it is a “global” experience as opposed to a targeted one. Percussion therapy targets treatment areas by reaching deep enough into the muscle to increase the amount of blood flow and oxygen required for effective treatment and recovery. What’s more, the Theragun strikes the body 40 times per second, so the brain cannot acclimatize to the stimulation, making the therapy more effective.

What are the advantages of muscle percussion?

Every day, we discover more and more benefits associated with Theragun and muscle percussion. Dr Jason works tirelessly to create and evolve new protocols that have tangible benefits for people’s lives. Here are some of the most common benefits:

  • Reduced muscle pain & tension
  • Faster warm-up & recovery
  • Increased blood flow
  • Lactic acid reduction
  • Improved range of motion
  • Tissue hydration
  • Improved stretching capacity
