Thomas Silvestrini, your physiotherapist in Bascharage, graduated in April 2021 from the international Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in Musculoskeletal Medicine at LUNEX University. During his Bachelor’s studies, he followed a theoretical curriculum including courses such as general, locomotor and neurological anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biomechanics, sports, medical and surgical pathologies, neurology, respiratory, cardiac and vascular physiotherapy, geriatrics, physiotherapy, nutrition etc… He has also taken many practical subjects such as massage, lymphatic drainage, mobilization, neurological rehabilitation, examinations and check-ups, orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, palpatory anatomy, etc.

For his Master’s degree, obtained in April 2023, he followed advanced therapeutic approaches in specialized fields such as musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, neurological and pediatric.

He has analyzed and critically evaluated clinical studies and scientific publications in order to integrate them into his practice.

Not forgetting clinical teaching, where he had the opportunity to take charge of different types of patient. This clinical section was carried out in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers and private practices. He was able to enrich his knowledge in the field of cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy with patients requiring cardiac and post-operative revalidation at the INCCI (National Institute Surgery Cardiac And De Cardiologie Interventionnelle) in Luxembourg. He has also worked with neurological pathologies (stroke, MS, tetraplegia, etc.) in the neurosurgical, stroke unit and oncology units of the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).

His stint at the Clinique Elmond-Jacques in Virton (Belgium) enabled him to see inpatient and outpatient treatment in orthopedics (PTG, PTH, etc.), neurology (Parkinson’s, paraplegia, etc.), pneumology and geriatrics, and introduced him to the back school, combining individual care with group lessons.

At the ISOS sports institute at the Polyclinique Les Bleuets – Reims (France), Thomas was able to broaden his knowledge of the sports world and enrich his clinical approach to traumatic pathologies in top-level athletes (basketball, soccer…). He was able to work closely with the clinic’s sports doctors to set up rehabilitation plans. It was also during this period that he was introduced to isokinetics and the latest tecaretherapy machines.

At the end of his Bachelor’s course, Thomas had the opportunity to present a research dissertation on “The impact of physiotherapy practice on the quality of life of patients with Crohn’s disease.”

His career continued at the Pôle Equilibre & Santé in Bascharage (Luxembourg) – where he expanded his knowledge of hand traumatology, pediatric cardiorespiratory care, manual therapy and vestibular rehabilitation.

Thomas, your Bascharage physiotherapist, perfected his skills at the Pôle Sport during his last internship at the Clinique de l’Union in Toulouse (France ). On a 300m2 technical platform with the latest proprioception and strengthening machines, as well as reprogramming of the athlete’s movements and his Alter-G. He was also able to perfect his skills in hand rehabilitation and learn how to make custom orthotics. He was also able to complete his diagnosis and treatment of traumatic and non-traumatic shoulders. Thomas also refined his maxillofacial management skills by assisting with postoperative and aesthetic maxillofacial care (genioplasty, etc.).

At the end of his Master’s course, Thomas ended up submitting a research dissertation on “The efficacy of manual therapy for the treatment of cervical radiculopathy: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.”
