A estimula\u00e7\u00e3o el\u00e9ctrica para controlar a dor era utilizada na Roma antiga. Scribonius Largus relatou que a dor era aliviada com o uso de enguias el\u00e9ctricas. Do s\u00e9culo XVI ao s\u00e9culo XVIII, v\u00e1rios aparelhos electrost\u00e1ticos foram utilizados para tratar as dores de cabe\u00e7a e outras dores. Benjamin Franklin era um defensor deste m\u00e9todo para aliviar a sua pr\u00f3pria dor.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:10px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:10px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.5;\"><p id=\"fancy-title-9\" class=\"mk-fancy-title simple-style color-single \">Defini\u00e7\u00e3o e princ\u00edpios de funcionamento<\/p><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A eletroterapia \u00e9 a contra\u00e7\u00e3o de &#8220;electro&#8221;, que significa eletricidade, e &#8220;terapia&#8221;, pelo que se trata de uma <strong>terapia que utiliza eletricidade<\/strong>. A eletroterapia \u00e9 um tratamento m\u00e9dico baseado na utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de energia el\u00e9ctrica. A eletroterapia \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m utilizada para descrever o<strong>registo da atividade el\u00e9ctrica de um m\u00fasculo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para funcionar corretamente, o corpo produz naturalmente eletricidade que \u00e9 transmitida <em>atrav\u00e9s dos<\/em> nervos, principalmente para os m\u00fasculos. Neste circuito fechado, o gerador \u00e9 o c\u00e9rebro, os fios s\u00e3o os nervos e o motor \u00e9 o m\u00fasculo. Assim, cada um tem o seu papel: o gerador d\u00e1 a informa\u00e7\u00e3o, os fios ou cabos transmitem-na e o motor reage a essa informa\u00e7\u00e3o. A eletroterapia funciona da mesma forma. A \u00fanica diferen\u00e7a \u00e9 que um gerador externo contorna o controlo volunt\u00e1rio do c\u00e9rebro. Por exemplo, em caso de dor, os nervos s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis pelo envio de um sinal de alarme para o c\u00e9rebro. Gra\u00e7as \u00e0 eletroterapia, este sinal de alarme n\u00e3o chega ao c\u00e9rebro, pois o gerador externo provoca um curto-circuito na transmiss\u00e3o da informa\u00e7\u00e3o dolorosa. Isto reduzir\u00e1 as dores do doente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A eletroterapia utiliza <strong>correntes el\u00e9ctricas de diferentes frequ\u00eancias<\/strong>. Por exemplo, o processamento de baixa frequ\u00eancia situa-se entre 0 e 1.000 Hz, o processamento de m\u00e9dia frequ\u00eancia situa-se entre 1.000 e 100.000 Hz e o processamento de alta frequ\u00eancia utiliza uma corrente superior a 100.000 Hz. Esta corrente, aplicada ao corpo <em>atrav\u00e9s de<\/em> el\u00e9ctrodos, tem o efeito de aliviar a dor e favorecer a circula\u00e7\u00e3o sangu\u00ednea. Dependendo do m\u00e9todo de eletroterapia utilizado, a eletricidade pode relaxar ou contrair o m\u00fasculo ou m\u00fasculos visados pelo tratamento.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-2 fusion_builder_column_1_2 1_2 fusion-one-half fusion-column-first\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:50%;width:calc(50% - ( ( 4% ) * 0.5 ) );margin-right: 4%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:10px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:10px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" style=\"margin:0;--fontSize:28;line-height:1.5;\"><span id=\"TENS_ou_neurostimulation_\u00e9lectrique_transcutan\u00e9e_\u00e0_vis\u00e9e_antalgique\" class=\"mw-headline\"><i>TENS<\/i> ou neuroestimula\u00e7\u00e3o el\u00e9ctrica transcut\u00e2nea para al\u00edvio da dor<\/span><\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A estimula\u00e7\u00e3o <strong>el\u00e9ctrica nervosa transcut\u00e2nea<\/strong> (TENS) \u00e9 uma forma de neuroestimula\u00e7\u00e3o que \u00e9 utilizada para estimular o sistema nervoso.<strong><br \/>\n  <i>A estimula\u00e7\u00e3o el\u00e9ctrica nervosa transcut\u00e2nea<\/i><br \/>\n<\/strong>) consiste em estimular eletricamente os nervos atrav\u00e9s de el\u00e9ctrodos colocados na superf\u00edcie da pele. A principal indica\u00e7\u00e3o para a <i>TENS<\/i> \u00e9 o <strong>tratamento da dor<\/strong>. Pensa-se que a sua a\u00e7\u00e3o analg\u00e9sica se deve ao facto de as correntes transcut\u00e2neas interferirem na condu\u00e7\u00e3o nervosa. As correntes utilizadas s\u00e3o geralmente de baixa (60 &#8211; 200 Hz) ou muito baixa frequ\u00eancia (&lt;<span class=\"nowrap\"><span title=\"0,1 s ou 62,831853071796 rad-s-\u00b9\">10<\/span> <span title=\"Hertz\">Hz<\/span><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A estimula\u00e7\u00e3o &#8220;convencional&#8221; (ou Gate Control) pode ser utilizada durante um curto per\u00edodo de tempo, mas o al\u00edvio da dor durar\u00e1 menos tempo. A estimula\u00e7\u00e3o de muito baixa frequ\u00eancia, por vezes semelhante \u00e0 eletropunctura, \u00e9 mais desconfort\u00e1vel e toler\u00e1vel durante apenas 20-30 minutos, mas o al\u00edvio dura mais tempo. Os utilizadores de TENS podem experimentar diferentes coloca\u00e7\u00f5es de el\u00e9ctrodos. Os el\u00e9ctrodos podem ser colocados na zona dolorosa, \u00e0 volta da zona dolorosa ou no trajeto do nervo aferente \u00e0 zona dolorosa. Os impulsos s\u00e3o gerados por um dispositivo e transmitidos por el\u00e9ctrodos na pele, na proximidade imediata dos m\u00fasculos a estimular. Os impulsos imitam os impulsos nervosos do sistema nervoso central, provocando a contra\u00e7\u00e3o dos m\u00fasculos. Os el\u00e9ctrodos s\u00e3o geralmente placas que aderem \u00e0 pele. O EMS \u00e9 simultaneamente uma forma de eletroterapia e de treino muscular.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta t\u00e9cnica \u00e9 utilizada principalmente por fisioterapeutas para a reeduca\u00e7\u00e3o muscular, como t\u00e9cnica complementar do treino desportivo, e tamb\u00e9m por indiv\u00edduos para o desporto amador ou a muscula\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e9tica. A electroestimula\u00e7\u00e3o para fins excito-motores pode ter v\u00e1rios objectivos: <strong>alterar o volume do m\u00fasculo, alterar a sua atividade funcional ou uma altera\u00e7\u00e3o metab\u00f3lica<\/strong>. A resposta neuromuscular depender\u00e1 das caracter\u00edsticas da corrente utilizada.
